This building opened its doors in 2011 as a luxury hostel concept with amazing facilities for travelers and backpackers. Created in a beautifully restored 19th century building, Gallery Hostel offers its guests with an authentic Portuguese experience and hospitality. Our concept is based on art, where every room is named after an important local artist and designed based on their work. An exhibition space was also created to allow new artists to showcase their work. The Gallery Hostel building mainly represents contemporary artists of our community. In 2015 and 2019, extending our portfolio, we opened Gallery Home and Gallery Townhouse respectively. Gallery Home represents classical artists with heritage elements of Portuguese culture whereas Gallery Townhouse is contemporary artists.
The latter, also a 19th century building, maintains its historic ceilings, hand-carved moldings, and original manual dumbwaiter. Both additions brings extra com fort and privacy to our guests, with uniquely themed and designed private rooms and suites. Even the private gardens and entertainment rooms provide an opportunity to socialize with other fellow guests. Every property has their own common kitchens, lounge and garden patios. This year, our main building underwent a significant facelift to provide our residents with an enhanced experience throughout our brands. We added a bespoke restaurant, a vibrant bar, and improved terrace whilst maintaining our art-themed concept. We look forward in welcoming you to our newly re-invigorated offering.
We have a total of 7 dorms and 2 private rooms in our hostel building. Every room has been designed with our global travelers in mind. All custom-designed beds have plugs, USB port, and individual lights for the convenience of our residents. Each dorm has its private bathroom and shower within the room, only shared with those staying in the same dorm. All residents of the dorms have a large private locker with digital pin-code locks for safe and secure storage of personal items.
