Lugares com Cor by Vasco Mota | Art Exhibition | Urban Sketching 🎨

2024-09-21

Unlike his first exhibition entitled Por(aí), where Vasco Mota introduced the concept of urban sketching and exhibited not only more recent illustrations, but also his first "doodles" born in 2019, "Lugares com Cor" intends for visitors to immerse themselves in the pigments present in his sketchbooks and in the representation of unique places, mainly in the city of Porto. All illustrations are created with a fine-tip marker and complemented using the watercolor technique in an organic and expressive way. The sketchbooks cannot be missed, the main stage for the urban sketches performed by Vasco. Representations of urban and natural landscapes, old houses, the interior of various spaces - and even food - give life and color to the watercolor paper pages. All illustrations are developed in the local (in situ), which gives them a trace of eternity, as they remain, forever, marked on those pages of his sketchbook.

Vasco Mota (1999) is a graphic designer and urban sketcher. Graduated from ESAD Matosinhos, his inspirations are Bráulio Amado and David Carson in this area. In 2021 he created the Rabiscar o Porto project, which aims to bring together people of all ages to illustrate the city in situ. Recently, the project was hosted by ÁGORA - Cultura e Desporto Do Município do Porto and was present at several events, such as the Dia Nacional dos Centros Históricos and the "Vizinhanças" initiative. The urban sketcher carries his graphic diary wherever he goes and illustrates, through the watercolor technique, everything he sees, from simple houses, urban and natural landscapes, details of the spaces he visits and, of course, the heritage of the city of Porto, where he was born and currently lives. In addition to urban sketching, Vasco develops workshops and currently illustrates weddings in person.
